Several videos and pictures were doing the rounds on social media of an ostrich holding up the traffic near the Ottery Main Road on Wednesday, September 29.
According to News24, the bird who reportedly hails from Schaapkraal was spotted around 11am, as it made its way to the M5 highway.
However, the ostrich was later recaptured and taken back to its owner, as Belinda Abraham, spokesperson for The Cape of Good Hope SPCA, mentioned to News24.
This is the second time road users have had an encounter with an ostrich after footage was captured by a local and cyclist, Daniel, of an ostrich running along with a cyclist.
