The fire that broke out below Peers Hill in Fish Hoek yesterday has been contained.

According to SANParks, 73 firefighters from Table Mountain National Park (TMNP), contracted crews NCC Wildfires, and Volunteer Wildfire Services battled the blaze until 2am this morning.

‘We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our management team and selfless firefighters, not only for their on-ground firefighting efforts but also for their invaluable contributions in planning, logistics, and documentation,’ says Justin Buchmann, TMNP integrated fire manager.
‘Our appreciation also goes to partners like PDMC and the City of Cape Town for their unwavering support and resource coordination.’
SANParks notes that the current fire season has been ‘exceptionally intense, marked by a high frequency of fires exacerbated by extreme weather conditions’.
The public is urged to exercise caution during picnics and braai’s, and to report wildfires immediately on 086 110 6417. Alternatively, the City of Cape Town can be contacted on its emergency number at 107/021 480 7700.
