In total, Liberty Promenade had a 91% waste diversion, which amounted to ‘almost 900 tonnes of waste’ that was diverted from landfills in the past year.
This comes from Liberty Promenade, which employs a ‘multifaceted approach’ to their waste management by combining waste minimization with recycling and recovery strategies.
In addition, comprehensive tenant education programmes, on-site recyclable separation facilities and innovative composting systems for organic waste are also utilised by the mall.
Liberty Promenade has also partnered with local organisations to ‘tackle non-recyclable plastics’, and find markets for products that were historically non-recyclable.
There was also a focus on the reduction of contamination at the source through tenant training programmes.
This mall has previously been awarded the five-star Green Star EBP (existing building performance) rating by the GBCSA in 2021.
