Some say that cycling is an art – but cyclists rocking art takes that phrase to a whole new level.
Ciovita X has recently launched a cycling kit that any person who loves the world of cycling and the art world, needs to know about.
In a collaborative project with local designer, Stellenbosch-based artist Michelle-Lize van Wyk, the Cape Town-based cycling manufacturer has called for cycling to take a turn onto artistic avenue.
As part of their first Ciovita X range, they’ve designed cycling garments that are wearable art and inspired by gorgeous gemstones.
A collection of three different pieces are up for retail, each one inspired by a different precious stone.
Beryl, a tender green for the tranquility-seeking cyclist.
Jacinth, the burning orange zest for the feisty cyclist.
And a hue of sapphire for the deep blue thinking cyclist.
All of the jerseys also dance with flowers, making this collection Spring’s love, cycling edition. The jerseys also have matching casquettes to accompany them. The sets as a whole are designed to be collectable items, making them even more treasure-worthy.
These are the musings of the artist, Van-Wyk. Her works are expressed to be explorations of life.
In her words:
“Since starting to paint in 2008 more or less everything I paint revolves around the theme of life. What gives, supports and sustains life? How do the choices we make, what we surround ourselves with and what we believe affect us? Even more specifically, – what are the things that we can build a life on? What are the things that will not fall away under our feet when the world is shaken?”
Beyond turning cyclists into moving galleries, the goal is also to raise funds for NGO AITSA!, which is a supportive non-profit focused on pre-school children and helps them on their journey through education. Ciovita is also focused on teaching the little ones how to mountain bike.
As part of the collab, R100 of each garment is set to go to AITSA!
