Just when you thought you’ve seen it all… A woman who featured on TLC’s ‘My Strange Addiction’ admitted that she eats her dead husband’s ashes, often snacking on the remnants at least five times a day.
Hailing from Tennessee, Casie tragically lost her husband to an asthma attack in 2011, and the pair were deeply in love.
Casie then began carrying around her husband’s ashes to comfort her grieving heart, and explained on the show that she “takes her husband everywhere” citing the grocery store, movies and restaurants.
But this behaviour soon turned into a dangerous addiction as Casie details how she lost weight since “eating Sean” and rarely eats anything else.
“I guess with the transfer of his cremains some got into the cardboard box as well and that spilled out on my hands… I didn’t want to wipe him off, that’s my husband I didn’t want to wipe him away so I just licked him off my fingers. And here I am… and I can’t stop, I’m eating my husband.”
She described feeling a “sense of happiness” that’s equivalent to an adrenaline rush, and the more she eats, the more she realises that there’s not much left of her husband’s ashes.
“It makes me feel embarrassed, ashamed, disgusted with myself, confused, crazy – you gotta be a really sick person to eat someone’s ashes,” Casie expressed.
“I have to stop eating him, I’ve lost him once, this time it’ll be my fault that I lose him again,” she adds.
Meanwhile, on Reddit, people were also curious about Casie’s story, as Clover1492 asked “Is it still canibalism if it’s just ashes?”
