#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

The Eatery Woodfired Grill, established in 2015, is a family-run business that has rapidly built its reputation as a local favourite. The restaurant is celebrated for its overall dining experience, friendly service, and outstanding dishes.

The wood fire, with its unique smokey flavour, inspires their menu and is the heart of the kitchen. Wood-fired favourites, including matured steak cuts, signature pork belly ribs, and braai toasties are all nothing short of mouthwatering.

The Restaurants signature dish is the “Fillet Steak Diane” – a beef fillet grilled on an open fire with a mushroom, thyme, brandy, and dijon mustard sauce. We’re drooling. It is flambéed table-side and will instantly evoke order envy from anyone in the dining room.

Also on offer are decadent milkshakes, home-brewed red iced teas, coffees, craft beer, artisanal gin and classic cocktails.

They are open for lunch and dinner daily and serve brekkie on Saturday mornings. Check out their digital flipbook menu.

“As a family-owned, independent, local restaurant, the COVID-19 pandemic was devastating to our business. But in retrospect, it has made us so much stronger and so much more resilient”, says owner Marius Pieters.

“Initially, we were only allowed to deliver and no sit-down’s, but we very quickly built an #InCarDining movie experience, seating guests in the backseats of their own cars and serving them a 3-course meal with a welcome mocktail and popcorn – all sanitised with a UV light station (still in use today over our cutlery trays) and delivered to your window,” Marius added.
