Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden has been named the best botanical garden in Africa by the World Luxury Travel Awards.
The World Luxury Travel Awards are a globally recognised entity that identifies and celebrates the best in luxury and quality travel experiences. The award to Kirstenbosch comes as a recognition of its exceptional qualities that set it apart on the African continent.
Situated against the backdrop of Table Mountain in Cape Town, Kirstenbosch is a marvel that intertwines carefully planned landscaping with the organic grandeur of nature.

The World Luxury Travel Awards extolled Kirstenbosch as one of the world’s most exceptional botanical gardens, emphasising the unique blend of natural beauty and horticultural excellence that defines it.
‘Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain,’ reads the organisation’s website.
‘The World Luxury Travel Awards are voted for by the public and are awarded to travel establishments across a diverse variety of categories, presented on a global, continent, regional and country basis,’ said Nontsikelelo Mpulo, the director of marketing, communication and commercialization at the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI).

SANBI is responsible for managing Kirstenbosch and showcasing and conserving its biodiversity. It operates across 11 national botanical gardens in South Africa, including the National Zoological Garden in Pretoria, making significant contributions to biodiversity preservation and education.
