While Cape Town prices force many locals to dig deep into their pockets, a new study has found that it is the seventh most affordable city to visit around the globe.

This is according to travel experts, Bounce, who crowned South Africa among the most affordable cities as a break destination for 2023, after revisiting their 2021 breakdown.
In order to determine the most affordable locations for your city break in 2023, the team examined 75 of this year’s most well-liked vacation spots based on costs of hotels, beers and one-way transportation.

The study found that a hotel room in Cape Town costs an average of R5 600 per night, while a restaurant meal typically costs about R200 and a beer costs about R46.
Timișoara in Romania is at the top of the list of the most inexpensive cities to visit.
It costs R2 300 per night to stay in a hotel in the city. The average taxi fare per kilometre in the city is R15, making transportation remarkably affordable. It is clear why the city was selected as 2021’s cultural capital of Europe.
Since 2021, Buenos Aires has fallen from first to second place in the list of the most affordable city breaks.
The city continues to have the lowest price for a bottle of wine at R74 and the lowest one-way fare on local transportation at R4.
The capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, is a new addition to the index, coming in third.
With an average one-way ticket on public transportation costing only R6, getting around the city is very inexpensive.
Baku is also among the most reasonably priced cities for draught beer, costing only R32.
