Social media users fell in love with a tall glass of…wine: Klein Roosboom Boutique Winery’s viticulturist, Nicol De Villiers.
As part of International Merlot Day and Men’s Health Awareness month, November, the Boutique Winery took to making a little social media post that made its way into the hearts and dreams of locals who love wine (and the views, if you know what we mean).

Nicol De Villiers, the viticulturist (a term that refers to people with degrees in winemaking who develop, breed, research and evaluate grapes and are essentially wine scientists) is the brain behind the Nicol Merlot, aptly named after its creator.
Groote Post Vineyards in Darling jumped in on the fun by introducing their very own viticulturist. Meet Jannie de Clerk, who developed his own mixture of fine wine called “Old Man Blend” and a few other divine delights.
Now, Jannie might not have the abs of Nicol, but he has certainly stolen our hearts with his incredible humour and great sportsmanship.
The Old Man Blend is quoted as “a very approachable wine.”
Both vineyards and winemakers are adored by locals. And we can confidently confirm that Cape Town really does have a little bit of something for everyone.
