Renewing your vehicle’s licence can be very stressful, especially if you have to stand in long queues. However, South African motorists have now been spared the wait as Pick n Pay introduced a three-step vehicle licence disc renewal system.

Pick n Pay further mentioned that the service fee will now cost R250 instead of R345, while the delivery fee to your chosen address will cost R99.00 including VAT.
Therefore, the total price of performing a vehicle licence disc renewal at PnP and getting it couriered to your desired address is R349.99.
“The retailer hopes to roll out the service to all Pick n Pay Liquor and Clothing stores soon, too,” said PnP.
Previously, the service was only available at 19 selected retailers, now it is available at over 500 locations nationwide!
The new vehicle licence disc renewal service is available to all privately owned vehicles and there is no limit to the number of discs that a customer can renew.
To make use of the system, customers must register with their cellphone numbers at in-store PnP till points, or follow this link. If there are any outstanding fines that are blocking your renewal, you will have the option to select these fines to include in your payment. If you do not settle these fines, your disc cannot be renewed. The payment amount provided on the portal will be linked to your mobile number, which you can provide as a reference when making payment in-store, further added Pick n Pay.
Following registration, customers must set up their profile and payment method online and thereafter select “opt to pay in a Pick n Pay store”. This allows you to pay in-store by providing your cellphone number as a payment reference.
A PnP Vehicle Licence Disc Renewal Portal profile then requires the following documentation:
- Proof of residence
- Clear image of ID book or card
- Copy of existing vehicle licence disc
After the payment is received, “customers can expect their new vehicle licence disc to be delivered within 10 business days,” said PnP. “The service also provides the ability for customers to resolve any blockages that may prevent them from renewing their vehicle licence disc.”
“An additional benefit is that once registered, customers will receive a renewal notification to help customers avoid a penalty fee.”
