SpongeBob SquarePants might live in a pineapple under the sea, but we promise that Pineapple House in Sea Point is really the place to be. This exquisite boutique hotel, located just off Sea Point Main Road, is taking comfort, style and location to an entirely new level, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Robyn Simpson.
Pineapple House Boutique Hotel checks all the boxes, whilst managing to go above and beyond what comes to mind at the mention of the words luxury and trendy.
This pinkly-painted oasis boasts nine beautifully appointed bedrooms; each with a unique character. Gorgeous decor, oozing both class and comfort, are consistent throughout.

To match the intricacies of carefully considered and abundant trinkets dotted throughout the space is the sublime detail of Lions Head, which is framed magnificently from the patio of room Four on One.

Pineapple House really is all about the detail.
Though considered boutique, the ambience is anything but. Bright colours, rich textures and a perfect blend of modern and traditional are robust. The small space is anything but confined, featuring large windows which fill the busy rooms with a perfect touch of weightlessness. A true breath of fresh air.

Equally refreshing is the staff at Pineapple House. From the moment I walked into the final zip of my overnight bag, I felt like I was made to feel at home. Home. A feeling rarely associated with hotels, but is certainly present at this truly special Capetonian gem.
A couple of meters adjacent to Main Road makes Pineapple House the perfect place for locals and tourists, youngsters and golden oldies alike. Almost directly across the street, and in walking distance, you’ll find some Mother City favourites including the iconic Mojo Market for a vibe, Jarryd’s Eatery for brekkie, Kleinsky’s for world-class bagels, Coco Safar for award-winning croissants, and the stunning Sea Point Promenade for the best evening walk you could ask for (just to name a few).
If you’re not out and about exploring, Pineapple House is the perfect place to put your feet up and relax. A unique home-style kitchen marks the centre of the common area, where a divine chefs meal is always on offer — featuring local and artisanal ingredients.

A petite splash pool is embedded into a stunning outdoor area where the warmth of the summer sun is channelled through the peaks of the building. Ambient and truly dreamy. Visiting in winter? Curl up in a cozy bay window next to the fireplace — glass of local Merlot in hand.

A special mention should be made for the exceptional incorporation of local goodies found all over, including the generous representation of Capetonian artists. I love it when locals support locals, and Pineapple House has done so from hand cream to tea cups – Mervyn Gerns teacups no less (perfect for delicious morning coffees thanks to the divine Nespresso milk-frother placed in each room).
