Situated within the heart of the Durbanville wine route, Klein Roosboom is definitly a little gem amongst the bigger names located in this area. As a small family-run wine farm, they’re big on providing a family-friendly atmosphere, so it’s a great place to sip on some robust red and crisp white wines while watching the kids play on the spacious lawn. Why not spice up your wine tasting experience by booking one of their tasting caves? These old concrete wine tanks have been converted to provide a unique experience for wine lovers with different themes and decor for each little cave available to suit your imagination.

Canto Wines is hidden along one of the back roads in the picturesque Durbanville Wine Valley and offers a more intimate wine tasting experience compared to its neighbour Meerendal. Canto is popular for producing Chardonnay, Merlot and MCC, a great addition to any wine enthusiast’s shopping list, but it’s the views that will take your breath away. Not only is the farm surrounded by rolling vineyards, but you may catch a glimpse of the endless stretch of canola fields blooming during spring – complemented by a glass of wine.

D’Aria is a favourite amongst those in the Northern Suburbs, and for good reason. It’s one of the larger farms along this route, offering some tastebud tingling wines, including an artisan and premium range – both out of this world and worth the bucks – crafted and blended by their resident female winemaker, Lutske. D’Aria is also a halfway point to Bloubergstrand, so taking a dip in the ocean after a mild wine tasting is always a treat.

Good food and great wine is Signal Gun’s unofficial motto. Not only do they offer award-winning wines (their Merlot is a must-try), but they cater to the needs of the avid beer drinker too, and offer one of the first craft beers produced in Durbanville. Not called Signal Gun for nothing, patrons can enjoy good food, wine and beer while watching the monthly canon firing, which takes place at 13:00 every first Saturday of the month.
