The Durbanville Wine Valley has become the glittering gem of the Northern Suburbs, dishing out incredible hospitality, award-winning wines and a good time.
Here are five reasons to head to the Durbanville Wine Valley today:
Amazing views
The Durbanville Wine Valley is located an easy 20-minute drive from the heart of Cape Town. While this wine route has slowly become a favourite destination for wine lovers looking to sip some out-of-this-world wines, it’s also a wonderful place to enjoy some beautiful views.
If rolling vineyards and the majesty of Table Mountain are the only snaps on your Instagram feed, then you’re in luck because the Valley has views like this from every angle! There’s certainly nothing better than sipping on a crisp white wine while enjoying a gorgeous view of Cape Town, is there?
Sample award-winning wines
There’s more to see than the view. Durbanville Wine Valley is renowned for its cool, two-ocean-influenced climate and is the perfect place for the flavourful development of wine grapes, making it a prime location for producing Sauvignon blanc wines.
D’Aria and Durbanville Hills provide a premium range of Sauvignon blanc wines to try while Bloemendal and Klein Roosboom offer a touch of history and family into your wine-tasting journey.
Scrumptious dishes
Drink and be merry, but not without some food! While wine may be the main attraction when stopping along the Durbanville Wine Route, the dishes served at Durbanville’s wine estates will leave you smiling from ear to ear. Whether it’s a hearty breakfast at Groot Phesantekraal, fresh sushi at Bloemendal, or a juicy burger at De Grendel, there is something to suit every palate.
Unique wine pairings
If you’re itching for wine pairings that allow you to step outside of your wine-loving comfort box, then you’ve come to the right place. D’Aria’s unique wine pairings are the highlight of any big holiday with hot cross buns and burgers just a few of the flavours they’ve already paired with their award-winning wines.
On the other side of the Valley, Durbanville Hills has been giving chocolate fans a taste of heaven with their wine and hot chocolate pairings.
Sauvignon Blanc for the wine!
Because Sauvignon blanc is such a big part of the Durbanville Wine Valley, 13 wineries have come together to produce the inaugural vintage of a milestone Sauvignon blanc wine. The grapes were supplied by 13 of the wineries located along Durbanville’s wine route which were later processed at De Grendel wine farm for distribution.
The result is a wine that’s bursting with the flavours of apple, pear, cold tea, and jasmine and thiols of tropical citrus, granadilla and blackcurrant and is a must-purchase when you visit! Alternatively, you can shop online!
