Imagine for a moment a beloved pet in pain and the heartache of a guardian without means to provide relief.
Ramnanan and Terblanché’s race is for these families and for the forgotten animals who find their way through their hospital doors via the inspectorate or the kindness of strangers.
Fuelled by their love for animals and their passion for healing both paws and pawrents, Ramnanan and Terblanché are on a mission to ensure access to essential veterinary services for all.
‘Every step we take is a step towards hope, towards a world where no animal suffers needlessly,’ Ramnanan shared.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA’s Animal Hospital treated 48 223 patients in the past year alone. That’s an astounding 132 animals receiving care each day, or 16.5 lives touched every single hour.
These are staggering numbers that not only show the immense demand for veterinary services but also demonstrate the unrelenting dedication of the team behind treatment and care. The growing demand for hospital welfare services has stretched the SPCA’s resources to the limit and last year, the hospital operated at a deficit of R5.2 million.
‘Running this 10km’s is our way of raising awareness for the plight of animals,’ Terblanché added. ‘We are their voice, and this marathon is our opportunity to amplify it. We need you to help us make a difference in the lives of those who rely on us.’
