Well, there’s some good news for those looking to save big as the quaint town of Franschhoek unveils its Hoekcoin. Making purchases using the SnapScan app and spending more than R400 at one of 40 businesses in this charming town will earn you R200 worth of Hoekcoin.
The best part? These SnapScan rewards can be spent at the same participating businesses.
Despite travel bans and a pandemic looming over our December holidays, this little slice of France that offers a splash of South African flavour, is looking to attract more local visitors this festive season in order to boost tourism and help local businesses flourish.
“I love My Hoek” campaign was launched in mid-November and beckons locals to revel in the beauty of this wine valley while supporting the recovery of the town’s restaurants. You may even recognise a few of the businesses with Boschendal, Grande Provence and Reuben’s making an appearance on the list of participating businesses.
“No, Hoekcoin is not a new cryptocurrency; it’s a rewards programme to help boost local tourism in the Franschhoek valley,” said SnapScan via a statement.
The campaign was launched with around R1 million worth of Hoekcoin rewards up for grabs. Once this total amount has been distributed to user’s via the SnapScan wallet, the campaign will come to a close.
Simply spend R400 or more at one of the participating businesses using the SnapScan app. In return you’ll receive Hoekcoin to the value of R200, which will be saved in your SnapScan Wallet. You can spend your Hoekcoin at any of the other participating businesses before the campaign ends.
Your earned Hoekcoin rewards are non-transferable and will need to be redeemed before February 28, 2022. For more important bits, make sure you head to the SnapScan website and don’t forget to support local!
