Tokara Wine Estate has been ranked 47th in the World’s Best Vineyards Top 50 2022 and shares this exciting accolade with two other South African vineyards. Creation has been ranked 38th and Klein Constantia 39th.
Italy tops the 2022 list with Antinori Nel Chianti Classico in Tuscany taking the number one spot.
“Moving up from Top 100 to Top 50 this year in this prestigious international ranking is an incredible achievement for the entire Tokara team,” says GM Karl Lambour.
He continues, “In addition to our breath-taking views, rolling vineyards and olive groves, we offer visitors the complete Stellenbosch Winelands experience from contemporary architecture, local art, magnificent walks, delicious cuisine with a distinctly South African flavour, and of course our world-class wines and olive oil.”
This is the 4th year of the World’s Best Vineyards Top 50 list. The accolade is sister to the renowned World’s Best Restaurants list.
The Top 50 list, announced in Mendoza, Argentina’s wine capital, was compiled from nominations by a global academy of voters comprising 600 leading wine aficionados, sommeliers and international wine and travel writers from across the globe.
The members individually nominate their seven favourite wine farms in preferential order.
The 2022 list includes vineyards from 20 countries across all six continents.
This is a substantial victory for the Western Cape and its world-class vineyards!
