Cape Town is in for an interesting week with thunderstorms, rain and chilly temperatures on the cards.

The week will start off with pleasant weather, as mostly sunny and somewhat warm days are expected.

Monday, July 6 will be a mostly sunny day with a high of 17°C and a low of 11°C. Tuesday, July 7 will be a similar day with mostly sunny temperatures expected and a high of 15°C paired with a low of 7°C.

Wednesday, July 8 will be the last mostly sunny day predicted for the week, with a warm high of 19°C expected alongside a low of 13°C.

The weather is expected to take a turn come Thurday, June 9. According to Weather.com, Thursday will be a rainy day with temperatures dipping to a 16°C high and a 11°C low.

Friday, July 10 will usher in stormy weather with thunderstorms expected, paired with even more rain. A high of 13°C will be experienced for the day with a low of 10°C expected.

Saturday, July 11 will continue the trend with scattered showers expected throughout the day and a high of 14°C paired with a low of 10°C.

Sunday, July 12 will be a cloudy day with only 20% chance of precipitation, a high of 16°C can be expected with a low of 11°C.

Monday, July 13 is expected to bring more rain to the Mother City, with temperatures reaching a high of 14°C expected with a low of 9°C.

As Cape Town prepares to receive more rain, dam levels are heading towards the 70% mark.

Currently, overall storage is at 63.5% full with the fullest dams being Steenbras Upper at 99.7% full and Berg River at 82.4% full.

The four days of rain ahead are expected to give levels a good push in the right direction and at least a percentage or two increase.
