SA Weather Service has issued a weather warning as a robust cold front approaches, heralding strong to near gale force westerly to north-westerly winds.
These winds are anticipated to range between 55 to 62 kph, gusting up to 70 to 80 kph. The affected regions include the City of Cape Town, Overberg and the Cape Winelands municipalities, with an early-morning onset on Friday.
The winds will then extend to the Central Karoo and Kannaland by mid-morning. The intensity of the wind will ease by afternoon in the western parts and by evening in the eastern areas.
The anticipated winds could lead to road, rail and air transport disruptions due to falling trees. High-sided vehicles traversing routes such as the N1 and N2 might encounter difficulties.

Navigation at sea may become challenging, and power and communication interruption are possible, particularly in informal settlements. Moreover, localised agricultural losses are also likely.
Residents and travellers are advised to remain vigilant, particularly when navigating areas with buildings or trees, as sudden crosswinds might arise. Secure temporary structures to prevent damage. Drivers should exercise caution, especially on routes prone to falling trees or power lines.
☔️Another cold front is expected to affect the Cape provinces on Friday and Saturday (25-26 August 2023). Several alerts and impact based warnings were issued for parts of the Western and Northern Cape provinces.
