The project, encompassing a pedestrian crossing decorated with images of African penguins in various poses, was a collaborative effort by the artist, local ratepayer associations, penguin conservation groups and the City’s Urban Mobility Directorate.
The project aimed to enhance urban streetscape energy and highlight the area’s heritage and cultural significance.
Councillor Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayco member for urban mobility, shared his enthusiasm for the project. He noted that Simon’s Town and the Boulders Beach area are global attractions, thanks in large part to the African penguin colony.
