Two Capetonians, Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal, have created a new buddy-comedy animation series called Kiff, which draws inspiration from growing up in Cape Town.
The series follows two friends, Kiff the squirrel and Barry the bunny, as they navigate their way through adventures in the City.
Heavens and Smal drew inspiration from their experiences of going to school in Cape Town, their friends and family, and the unique culture and environment of the City.
They have also included several Cape Town easter eggs in the series for viewers to spot.
Kiff is a series for the new generation, inspired by animated favourites like The Simpsons and DuckTales. Set in an eccentric community surrounded by friends and family, Kiff and Barry find adventures just around the corner.
The creators are excited to bring a local flavour to the international platform of Disney+. They hope that viewers from around the world will enjoy watching the series and get a taste of Cape Town’s unique culture.
The series is set to premiere on Disney+ soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for Kiff and her adventures in the Mother City.
