Lesley-Ann Brandt, the talented actress from Cape Town who played the role of Mazikeen, a demon, in the popular Netflix series Lucifer, has been making waves globally.
Not only did she bring her character to life with her incredible acting skills, but she also infused some of her South African roots into her performance.
Fans were delighted to discover that parts of Mazikeen’s ‘demonic’ language were actually rooted in Afrikaans, and this made South Africans everywhere proud to see one of our languages represented on a global platform.
Although the final season of Lucifer has ended, Lesley-Ann continues to make her South African fans proud by teaching her American followers some Cape Town slang on Instagram.
With over three million followers, Lesley-Ann has been entertaining her fans with her hilarious explanations of classic Cape Town phrases like ‘Are you jas?’ and ‘Don’t be versin!’
Her videos have been a hit, garnering over 15k likes on her first video and multiple comments from her fans.
