It’s been a while since Aunty Merle paid us a visit. After a highly anticipated two-year wait, much-loved Cape Town comedian Marc Lottering announced that our favourite Cape-coloured aunty will be back on stage in November where she’ll probably be baking a lemon meringue even while ‘Things Get Real’ at home.
Aunty Merle: Things Get Real is Marc’s new musical comedy, following hot on the stilettos of his smash-hit show Aunty Merle: It’s a Girl! for which he was awarded the prestigious Naledi Award.

It’s been an eventful two years, Aunty Merle survived Covid and has just about navigated her way around Load Shedding.
But things are about to get real. Really real. Her husband Dennis has been keeping a secret from her. So secretive has Dennis been, that it’s affected his heart and his doctor advises him to come clean.
Aunty Merle’s world is about to be shaken and her spirits may sink even lower than her already sunken couch. With all the laughs and the tears (whether from laughing or crying), it’s a show you wouldn’t want to miss.
In true hilarious Marc Lottering style, he pinned a comment to his own post saying “Maaf I made a oopsie on the flyer. We start 29 Nov x ”
The hip-slapping details
The musical comedy will be showing at The Pam Golding Theatre at The Baxter.
