Mandisi Dyantyis, South African trumpeter and vocalist, will soon host a Conversation Series in honour of June 16, or Youth Day. The series will discuss the role played by youth in the struggle, and will pay homage to those who came before us.

In the five episode series, which will last for five months, ‘Songs Of Freedom’, ‘Songs Of Liberation’ and ‘Songs Of Triumph’ will be performed in tribute to those who stood up against injustice and sacrificed themselves for the greater good.

These songs will be chosen from The Mandisi Dyantyis catalogue as well as other “Umzabalazo” songs.

You will be able to stream the series at home.  However, this concert will not be available as a free Youtube screening after the event is over. It will possibly be available for a paid re-stream if there is a demand.

The first episode, Umzabalazo “Songs Of Freedom”, will happen on June 16, at 4pm and will showcase Mandisi Dyantyis [vocals and trumpet], Steve De Souza [double bass] and Blake Hellaby [piano].

Tickets can be booked via Quicket and cost R85 per household.
