Ndlovu Youth Choir has officially signed a deal with America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell. The choir is in good company, joining Simon’s other previously signed acts, One Direction and Fifth Harmony.

Speaking to Joanne Joseph on Radio 702, Choir director Ralf Schmitt announced the big news. “We are very excited that Simon Cowell and his company have exercised their option to sign the choir and together with Sony Music in South Africa are working on exciting projects,” he said.

“It is a wonderful compliment to these young people because he wouldn’t do that if he didn’t think there is a future for them and the work they have done.”

Cowell  is the owner of television production and music publishing house Syco Music. The music executive is well known for signing acts from music competitions he has judged on. He famously formed X-Factor groups One Direction, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony during their respective seasons he judged, and signed them all once their competitions ended.

Cowell also signed Westlife, Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle early in their music careers.
