Sky Messaging, the initial coordinator for the Mavericks ad routes, is a creative platform specialising in taking its clients’ brands, messages and call-to-actions to captive audiences in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
‘The carefully planned routes are adjacent to main arterials, with the banners flown at 300 metres above ground at a set distance from the road, thereby ensuring pique readability. The engagement time per viewer is plus/minus 17 seconds due to the low travel speed of 85km/h,’ explained Nils Becker, a commercial pilot at Sky Messaging.

Play.co.za also plans to incorporate messages advocating responsible gambling into their airborne campaigns, making them the first in the country to intertwine entertainment with an important social message through aerial advertising.
Elri Verreynne, spokesperson for Play.co.za, emphasised the importance of this endeavour, stating: ‘In our pursuit of delivering exceptional gaming experiences, we recognise the paramount significance of responsible gambling. By taking our message to the skies, we aim to ensure that every individual engaging with our platform does so in a mindful and controlled manner, safeguarding both the thrill of gaming and their overall well-being.‘
So, in the coming days, be on the lookout – especially during those gridlocked rush hours – for the purple banners of Play.co.za overhead.
