The Anti-Gang Unit arrested three suspects in the early hours of Thursday morning for the recent murder of six-year-old Zakariyah Noble, who was shot dead as a result of the ongoing gang violence in Hanover Park on Monday.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, around the clock investigation led to the arrest of the three men, aged 20, 21 and 30.
Zakariyah succumbed to a gunshot wound to his chest after getting caught in crossfire believed to be from rival gangs in the area. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The three suspects will make their first appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court, once charged,’ added Pojie.
‘The boy succumbed to a gunshot wound to his upper body after he got caught in crossfire believed to be from rival gangs in the area,’ said Pojie.
Zakariyah was buried according to Muslim rites on Wednesday afternoon and his father, Kieyamodien, welcomed the arrest, reported News24.
‘This is fantastic news. The arrest was quick and it’s welcomed with opened [arms] because my son should never have been killed in such a cruel manner,’ Kieyamodien told the publication.
