The Rotary Club of Wynberg is bringing back its much-enjoyed ‘Last Night of the Proms’ show at Cape Town City Hall in March 2024.
Scheduled for the evenings of 16 and 17 March 2024, this year’s theme, ‘Roccover Beethoven’, will feature a combination of classical and contemporary music.
Renowned conductor Richard Cock, affectionately known as ‘Mr Proms’, will lead the Cape Town Proms Orchestra.
The event will feature two exceptional soloists: Rocco de Villiers, a versatile pianist and composer, and Lonwabo Mose, a rising star in the baritone realm.
The combined voices of the Cape Welsh Choir, the Cape Town Male Voice Choir, the Wynland Koor and the Tygerberg City Choir will liven up the concert.
Adding to the atmosphere, the Cape Town Highlanders will perform with their signature pipes and drums. A unique highlight of the event is the ringing of City Hall’s 39 carillon bells, scheduled before the show and during the interval.
This year’s beneficiaries are the Friends of Orchestral Music, Victoria Hospital and various Wynberg Rotary projects. The event’s history of selling out, with over 900 seats for each performance, suggests prompt ticket purchase is advisable.
The event also offers exciting lucky draw prizes, including stays at the Stanford Manor, Brookdale Estate and the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa, obtainable through the Proms programme.
Attendees will be provided with secure, complimentary parking at the Grand Parade.
Tickets are available via Computicket. For more details, contact Stephen Bredenkamp at 082 570 4440 or email [email protected].
