Just when we thought Adele couldn’t tug at our heartstrings any more than she already has, she relays a heartfelt story where she praises her English teacher, and we are moved!
This emotional moment comes after British actress Emma Thompson asked who inspired and supported Adele when she was younger. The songbird responded by shining the spotlight on Ms McDonald, a teacher from Chestnut Grove school who got her “into Literature”.
“She was so bloody cool, so engaging, and really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us. She used to have these Gold Bracelets and gold rings. She was bloody cool and relatable and likeable that I really looked forward to my English lessons,” Adele said.
To Adele’s surprise, Ms McDonald was in the audience, setting off waterworks and moving all who witnessed this precious gem of a moment. After McDonald made her way to the stage, Adele embraced her and said “you really did change my life”.
After an outpouring of emotions, Adele concluded by saying “Oh, now I have to get my make-up re-done.”
Here’s what some fans have said:
@nessa__DON – “I swear it’s always the English teacher that make the most impact”
@gogh_shawty – “No but seriously though. I’ll never forget the one that had an impact on my life. That encouragement, coaching, and belief that you could go very far in life… it stays with you and truly influences you.”
@BornTaLEAD – “Thank you for remembering me.” Whew. This touched me. Teachers truly make a life-long impact on their students, even if they don’t realize it.”
