As November moves along steadily to make way for the festive season, there are a number of tell-tales that signal the coming of South Africa’s most-loved month, Dezemba.
Public spaces are dolled up with Christmas decorations, Adderley Street is lit up and summer events are popping up all over.

Most significantly, however, taking a drive to the Atlantic Seaboard (or any holiday hotspot in the Mother City, really) begins to resemble the traffic-infested drive to work on a Monday morning, no matter the time of day.
Logistically speaking, this makes no sense. Matric exams are coming to a close, school kids are opting to start their summer holidays early, and some Capetonians are already jetting off to faraway tropical islands.

It’s that time of the year, folks. A flurry of NUR, GP, EC and what-have-you number plates from around the country are flocking in.
Jokes aside, from soaking up the sun on one of Cape Town’s glistening beaches or staring out at the rolling vineyards while sipping a glass of bubbly to ticking off an exhilarating adventure on your bucket list, it’s not too difficult to understand why everyone flocks to the Mother City for the festive season.
