Pieter Toerien has teamed up with the Cape Town Opera to bring back the magic of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s cherished musical, The Sound of Music.
Kicking off at Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre in December 2023, the acclaimed production will later grace Johannesburg’s The Teatro at Montecasino.

Renowned for its iconic tunes like My Favorite Things, Climb Ev’ry Mountain and Do Re Mi, this revival celebrates the legacy of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s 11th and final collaboration.
The heartwarming tale, inspired by Maria Von Trapp’s memoir, follows a young aspiring nun-turned-governess who brings joy and melody into the lives of Captain von Trapp’s seven children.
Set against the backdrop of Austria facing the rise of Nazism, the Von Trapp family faces a pivotal moral crossroads.

Having won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the original stage production later transformed into the critically acclaimed five-time Oscar-winning film, solidifying its place as the most successful movie musical of all time.
