This month, the City of Cape Town is taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather to host a lively events calendar. A variety of 21 events comprising sports, arts, entertainment and business are set to brighten your schedules.
From outdoor concerts to charity runs, there’s something for everyone, offering a perfect blend of leisure and community engagement.

Here’s some of what you can look forward to:
Lace Up for Cancer
Catering to all ages, the Lace Up for Cancer 5km charity race will donate R4 for every R5 on the ticket price to the Cancer Alliance and the Association of Palliative Care Centres. The event is hosted by the NGO Hospice Palliative Care Association (HPCA) in conjunction with the Cancer Alliance and the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), promising a meaningful day of unity and support.

KKKA Kaapse Klopse Competitions
Today marks the fifth (and final) week of the annual Hollywoodbets and KKKA Kaapse Klopse Competition at Athlone Stadium, organized by the Kaapse Klopse Karnivaal Association, Section Two troupes will compete in various categories, including Juvenile Combined Chorus, Adult Coon Song, Best Band, and Group Song. Featured troupes include PLAYAZ Inc., JUVIE BOY Entertainers, and many more.

Maynardville Open-Air Festival
For a unique outing, escape to the unique 700-seater wooded theatre at Maynardville where you can indulge in pre-show culinary delights. The season opens with ‘Rachmaninoff Rendezvous,’ featuring pianists Mike Wang and Elna van der Merwe, and concludes with ‘Friends in Harmony,’ a group choral performance by Tygerberg Children’s Choir, South African Youth Choir, and Vivox Voices.

The 99er Cycle Tour
The inclusive ’99er’ cycling race caters to cyclists of all abilities. With 51km and 100km road races, and a new addition of a gravel MTB 60km hybrid race for 2024, this event promises a thrilling experience for cycling enthusiasts.

International Public Art Festival
This year’s theme, CoAct | CoLLab, sets the tone for an immersive public art experience in the Company’s Garden and across Cape Town CBD. The festival aims to inspire connection through communal action and creative alliance, with public art projects bringing the city to life. Don’t miss the chance to explore the endless possibilities of art and collaboration during this vibrant event.
