The festival will feature a dazzling array of national and international guest companies and artists. It will also shine a spotlight on Jazzart’s vibrant students and professional dancers, along with specially invited guests from around the country.
The festival’s first week boasts a star-studded lineup of renowned names in contemporary dance. Jazzart’s celebrated alumni, including Sifiso Kweyama, Celeste Botha, Elvis Sibeko and Shaun Oelf, will present their exceptional works. They will be joined by multiple award-winning artists Vincent Mantsoe and Gregory Maqoma.
The legendary Sylvia Glasser and Moving into Dance, one of South Africa’s longest-standing contemporary dance companies, will also grace the stage.
Cape Town residents can look forward to an exciting creative collaboration that brings together Jazzart, Cape Town Opera, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and the Phoenix Dance Theatre. This collaboration has resulted in the critically acclaimed show titled Requiem: Journeys of the Soul.
Choreographed and directed by Jazzart’s Artistic Director, Dane Hurst, with music by Mozart and Neo Muyanga, this production promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of remembrance and rebirth in a post-pandemic society.
