The Cape Town Cycle Tour turns 46 this year, featuring a beautiful ride comprising the sea, the mountain, and wildlife. Thousands of cyclists ride it every year in a true celebration of cycling.
Cyclists can choose between the 109km or the 42km route and experience the spirit of a day where bicycles rule.
109km: The classic route
On the second Sunday of March, cyclists will ride through the Southern Suburbs, along the False Bay coast and past the penguins of Simon’s Town. They’ll get a chance to cool off at the halfway mark at Cape Point Nature Reserve before taking on Chapman’s Peak Drive.
Suikerbossie provides a great challenge on the route, after which they’ll descend through Camps Bay and Clifton and finish in Green Point.
42km: Half the effort, all the spirit
The 42km event was successfully launched in 2023 to provide cyclists who were not quite ready for the full lap with the opportunity to enjoy the ride. On this route, cyclists will get to enjoy the vineyards of Constantia and the Newlands Forest on their return without missing out on any of the big-event amenities.
