A memorial run will be held for the five schoolchildren who lost their lives in a traffic accident on AZ Berman Drive in Mitchells Plain.

On Tuesday morning, a light delivery vehicle, a minibus taxi and a Golden Arrow Bus collided near Beacon Valley at the intersection of AZ Berman Drive and Kerrem Street, as per the City of Cape Town.
The driver of the light delivery vehicle, which was transporting the schoolchildren, has since been arrested. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the 55-year-old faces a charge of culpable homicide and will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court.
The memorial run will start at the Westgate Mall in Mitchells Plain, move to the scene of the accident on AZ Berman Drive, and end at the Promenade.
Those looking to join are encouraged to bring flowers and balloons.
