In a bid to enhance the exposure of South Africa’s junior squash players, an equally exciting junior event was introduced in 2021, running in parallel with the Senior Nationals. The forthcoming days, from August 17 to August 20, will see the top talents of the U15, U17 and U19 age categories compete valiantly for well-deserved accolades.
Dewald van Niekerk, the reigning champion, has his sights set on a remarkable achievement as he vies for a hat-trick of Growthpoint squash titles in the senior men’s division.
On the women’s side, Eastern Province’s Hayley Ward has emerged as the top seed, accompanied by Alexa Pienaar and former champion Milnay Louw (victorious in 2017 and 2019), both determined to assert their dominance on the court and clinch this year’s coveted title.

‘Following successful events in 2021 and 2022, we are thrilled to welcome the Growthpoint SA Squash National Championships back to our beautiful city for another showdown of extraordinary talent at one of Cape Town’s iconic locations,’ said the City’s mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith.
He continued, ‘The City’s support of the tournament forms part of its efforts to continue elevating the status of squash in our country, provide an opportunity for players to showcase their skills, and ensure the sport continues to thrive on an international level.’
As part of Squash SA’s unwavering dedication to nurturing the sport’s development, local children will have the unique opportunity to visit the glass court and partake in interactive sessions with Siyoli Waters, a distinguished South African professional squash player.
These sessions will impart the fundamental principles of the game and inspire the next generation of squash enthusiasts.
