The tournament kicks off with sub-district competitions on Saturday, 25 May, culminating in finals on Women’s Day, 9 August, at Stephen Reagan Sports Complex, Mitchells Plain.
‘The Netball World Cup last year proved how popular this growing sport is among our young people, and not only women,’ says the City’s Mayco member for community services and health, Patricia van der Ross.
‘The benefits of netball are abundant and we want to continue building on the success of the sport.’
The U19 local netball tournament series plays a key role in the City and the Cape Town Netball Federation’s mission of promoting netball and creating opportunities for youth in sport.
This initiative encourages participants to be team-oriented, develop leadership skills, gain confidence in their abilities, learn netball fundamentals and above all, have fun.
