18-year-old Tatum Hendricks died in Hospital around 2am on Monday morning after being knocked by an allegedly unlicensed driver in Bonteheuwel on Sunday.
It is believed that the young unlicensed driver stole his father’s car and was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Ward councillor Angus Mckenzie says it is believed the young man lost control of the vehicle after revving down Bonteheuwel Avenue.
A male individual was knocked, followed by Tatum Hendricks. Thereafter the car knocked into two properties in Bluegum Avenue.
“Tatum was knocked with such impact that her body was flung on top of a roof,” added Mckenzie.
Tatum and the other male individual were transported to hospital as well as the driver who had to be cut out of the car.
Tatum passed away in the hospital this morning before 2am.
“The actions of the driver cannot go unpunished. This behaviour has caused great pain for the family, friends, and greater community,” concluded Mckenzie.
Our deepest condolences to Tatum’s loved ones during this difficult time.
