Picture this: There’s a hint of ‘festive’ creeping in the air as October comes to a close and Dezemba quickly approaches. It’s a Friday afternoon; you’ve just clocked out from a hard week of work and you’re on the prowl for something fun to kickstart the weekend.

But your tummy begins to rumble and you begin wracking your brain for a lekker feast that somehow doesn’t require the effort and energy needed to bring this desire to life – and that’s the moment you remember that Tobago’s Flaming Fridays are back at the iconic Radisson Blu.
With the blue Atlantic at your table’s edge, an infinity pool to your left, and a picturesque walkway stretching out along the harbour towards the V&A Waterfront on your right, Tobago’s Restaurant, Bar & Terrace is a dreamy dining destination for Cape Town summers.
Add in a feast-like buffet of local flame-grilled dishes complete with trimmings and all your favourite desserts, a flowing cash bar and a vibey DJ to set just the right mood and you’ve got yourself the ultimate summer night out.
What’s on the menu?
Upon entering the restaurant, the sight of the spread alone will have your mouth watering and your stomach already feeling full.
Starters:
There’s a fully-kitted salad bar featuring summer favourites such as a broccoli salad and classic Caesar salad, wholesome veggie options like roasted potatoes, and seafood appetisers including homemade pickled fish and calamari strips. The bread corner is complete with must-have braai essentials: garlic bread, ouma se brood and the beloved roosterkoek.
Main:
The stars of the culinary show include a generous selection of seafood, meats and veggie options, including a cheese and tomato chutney pap tert, white wine mussel potjie, pearl onion and boerewors kebabs, and, of course, good ole nyama that’s been grilled to perfection over open flames for an authentic South African flavour.

Desserts:
As with any braai (or any dining occasion, in our opinion), it’s mandatory to end off with something sweet, and at Flaming Fridays, there’s certainly no shortage of sweet endings.
Dig into South African favourites such as koeksisters, pecan nut and pear malva pudding, peppermint crisp cake and mini milk tarts. Or opt for some added decadence with their selection of cakes, tarts and spiced Crème Brûlée. For those with not-so-sweet tooths, end off with a refreshing fruit platter or a selection of local cheese.
You may need to pace yourself to get through it all, and that’s okay. Bring out your elasticated bottoms, have a drink, take a walk, admire the sunset and bust a move in between to aid with digestion – we guarantee you’ll want to grab a bite or three of everything on offer.
