Cape Town’s burger scene is getting another addition, with Le Pickle finally opening its long-awaited Bree Street location after an unexpected construction setback pushed the launch back by several months, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The burger brand is set to open at 215 Bree Street on Friday, 2 October, bringing its smash-burger offering into the CBD just in time for First Thursdays.
The opening follows the expansion of the business to Claremont earlier this year, while its original De Waterkant location continues to operate.
The delayed opening was detailed by Time Out Cape Town, which reported that co-owners Pieter Aucamp and Trent Devine had initially expected the Bree Street shop to be trading earlier in 2026.
Construction problems, including a floor that had to be replaced, meant engineers and council approvals were required before work could continue.
Le Pickle began in March 2025, founded by Pieter Aucamp, Vincent Viviers, Trenton Devine and Enrico Ferigolli after the group experimented with burger recipes and developed a menu centred around smash patties, pickles and house-made sauces.
Its first restaurant opened at 8 Jarvis Street in De Waterkant, followed by a Claremont branch in July. The Bree Street opening will now give the brand a presence in one of the Mother City’s busiest restaurant and nightlife precincts.
At the heart of the menu are double smash patties served on house-made buns with cheese, pickles and sauces. The chips are also prepared in-house and hand-cut.
The line-up includes the Le Classic, while the Le Onion combines fried onions with garlic sauce. The mozzarella-topped Le Godfather is another option, alongside chicken, lamb and vegetarian burgers.
For the Bree Street launch, Le Pickle is offering all burgers for R99 from 12:00 on Thursday, 1 October, accompanied by Happy Hour drink specials throughout the day.
The opening also coincides with First Thursdays, when the CBD draws visitors for late-night gallery visits, restaurants, bars and other cultural activities.
The Bree Street branch is currently listed as operating from Tuesday to Saturday between 12:00 and 22:00, with Sunday service running until 21:00.
The new location has already generated interest online. In a social media post announcing the opening, Le Pickle wrote, ‘It’s finally happening, folks!! See you there.’
The post prompted a mix of congratulations and anticipation, including one commenter asking whether there would be enough burgers left for the following day, while others welcomed the new opening and said they were looking forward to Friday.
For a brand whose CBD debut was delayed by months of construction work, the move to Bree Street marks another step in Le Pickle’s expansion across Cape Town’s food scene.
