A total of 231 babies were born on Christmas Day in public health facilities across the Western Cape.

Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, the Western Cape Minister of Health and Wellness, says 111 boys and 120 girls made their debut on 25 December.

As per SABC News, the first boy was born in Mossel Bay just after midnight and the first girl was born in Hanover Park on the Cape Flats.
Last year, 188 babies were born on Christmas Day, as reported by public health facilities in the Western Cape.
The first was a baby girl born at midnight at Groote Schuur Hospital, weighing 3.130kg. One minute later, the second baby – also a girl – was born at the same hospital, weighing 3.2kg.
Two sets of twin girls also made their arrival as the first set of twins at around 4:30pm at Tygerberg Hospital.
