Police authorities are currently investigating a house burglary in Bellville following a disturbing incident involving two suspects who deceived and assaulted an elderly resident.
According to the Cape Times, the sequence of events unfolded when a white man approached the pensioner’s door, pleading for food. Seizing the opportunity, while the resident went to fetch some food, another suspect managed to gain entry into the house through an upstairs window.
Subsequently, the intruder reportedly assaulted the woman using a taser and rendered her unconscious. After she became incapacitated, the suspect unlocked the front door, enabling the second suspect to enter the premises.

The thieves reportedly escaped with stolen items, including jewellery, house keys and an undisclosed amount of cash.
FC van Wyk, a police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of house robbery has been registered for investigation. He relayed the details provided, stating that the victim initially responded to a knock on her front gate, only to encounter an unidentified male who was pleading for food.
Acting out of kindness, the resident went to procure food for the beggar. However, she soon realised that she was being followed onto her property by another unknown male, who then proceeded to assault her with a taser.
‘The victim lost consciousness, and when she recovered, she realised that her property had been stolen. No arrest as yet; the investigation continues,’ he said.
