Update:
According to Fire & Rescue Services Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse, firefighters have contained the fire on the mountain slopes above Boyes Drive.
Resources will be scaled down, with aerial support grounded, but ground crews will work throughout the night. City crews will be on standby.
Boyes Drive has been closed in both directions due to a vegetation fire that began in Kalk Bay above Boyes Drive.
Southerly winds are blowing at 34kph, which has caused the fire to move rapidly and is challenging the firefighting efforts.
The head of the fire is now reportedly on Ou Kaapse Weg.
Crews from SANParks’ Table Mountain National Park and NCC Wildfires have been deployed, and aerial support has been escalated with three Huey helicopters and a spotter plane en route to assist from above.
Residents in the surrounding areas are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the progress of the firefighting efforts.
