Locals all over greater Cape Town have been gearing up for the much anticipated Cape Town Street Parade. Formerly referred to as ‘Tweede Nuwe Jaar’, the parade attracts revelers who gather along streets of the city’s CBD up to a week in advance.

This parade has been entrenched in the Cape Malay culture of Cape Town for more than 110 years, and is predicted to draw a crowd of between 60 000 and 100 000 people.

Those who live in the CBD or commute to the city centre each day are urged to plan their trips accordingly, as affected roads will be closed between 6am and 10.30pm.
