On Wednesday, November 10, a car crashed into a staff room at Copanan Middle School in Emmaraleni, injuring two assistant professors and two students.
According to Jasper Zwan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education in Mpumalanga, the 60-year-old teacher was on the school grounds with a Mercedes-Benz when he hit the slide gate at the entrance, reports Eminetra.
“She apparently hurriedly stepped on the accelerator while trying to stop”, Zwan said.

According to IOL, the Mpumalanga MEC for Education Bonakele Majuba visited the secondary school on Thursday, November 11. “It was a blessing that no one died”, said the MEC.
“According to the preliminary information which still needs to be verified, it looks like a teacher accidentally drove into the staff room thereafter injured two assistant teachers and two learners. The injured were rushed to the nearest hospital”, further added Zwane.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was slightly injured and was discharged from the hospital.
Bonakere further added that the crash did not have any effect on the exams as we live in a world where facts and fiction are blurred.
