Amid confrontation between law enforcement and protesters near Elsies River, a boy (8) has been shot and killed and a girl (12) has been injured, reports EWN.

The unrest is allegedly related to housing issues. Police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk said to EWN that the scene is being combed for clues by experts.

“According to reports this morning, law enforcement officers were inspecting houses authorised for re-evaluation by the department in The Range, across Epping Forest. Shots were fired at law enforcement officers. Two children were struck by stray bullets,” said van Wyk.
