This ‘Road Safety Call for Ideas Campaign’ is a step towards participatory governance, aiming to gather insights for planning purposes.
The City noted that this initiative is not a solicitation or an obligation on the City’s part, and no compensation will be offered for the submission of ideas.
‘The Urban Mobility Directorate believes in open and innovative governance, and this is yet another way that the directorate is working to include all road users in helping to make roads safer,’ said Councillor Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayco member for urban mobility.

The formal public participation phase will continue after the development of the draft Traffic Calming Policy and draft Road Safety Strategy, as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to include all road users in making Cape Town’s roads safer.
Residents can submit their suggestions by Sunday, 10 December 2023, via the City’s collaboration platform at capetown.gov.za/collaborate or email their ideas to [email protected].
Those who prefer offline methods can visit local libraries or City facilities to access Smart Cape and engage in the process. Additionally, idea forms are available at subcouncil offices.
