The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has announced that they will be doing planned water supply maintenance in identified areas in Cape Town from Tuesday, 23 April to Thursday, 25 April, according to a press statement released by the City today.
The maintenance will result in water supply disruptions, such as low water pressure, or water not coming out of their taps during this period of time.
It is not possible to predict which areas or streets will experience disruptions, and the City has therefore advised residents in the affected areas to prepare accordingly.

Among the maintenance that is set to be performed, Zero-pressure tests (ZPT) and conditional assessments will be done on the water supply network in the areas of Milnerton, Ridgeworth and Bloemhof, Century City and Canal Walk Mall.
ZPTs and step-testing are part of the installation process for pressure management technology. The tests are performed in advance to see if any ‘unmapped inflows need to be considered’ before installing smart pressure-reducing valves (PRVs).
The maintenance will be performed at the following times:
- Tuesday, 23 April 2024, from 10am until 4pm: Milnerton
- Wednesday, 24 April 2024, from 10am until 4pm: Ridgeworth and Bloemhof
- Thursday, 25 April 2024, from 7am until 5pm: Century City and Canal Walk Mall
