The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) Vaccination Centre of Hope will be closing on Friday, December 3 as fewer people have been coming for their COVID-19 vaccines.
The Vaccination Centre of Hope was a public-private partnership between the City of Cape Town, Western Cape Government Health, Discovery Health and CTICC, reports IOL.
More than 136 000 people received their COVID-19 jabs and represents the highest number of people vaccinated at one site in the Western Cape. However, the site saw a decline in people coming for their COVID-19 vaccines a couple of months ago.
As the province reached just over 49% of the population vaccinated with at least one dose, the decline began. All vaccine sites between 190 – 200 sites across the Western Cape saw fewer people getting their vaccines.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape Department of Health reached another milestone on Tuesday, November 23 after surpassing the 4 million COVID-19 vaccine mark in the province. According to the provincial Department of Health, 4 005 802 COVID-19 jabs were administered to 2 433 085 people.
The latest data from the national Department of Health indicates that 48.89% of the adult population in the Western Cape have been fully vaccinated.
