The City of Cape Town has announced that a necessary electricity supply interruption due to planned maintenance will take place in parts of the metro on Saturday, 18 or 25 May.

The metro municipality stated that the maintenance will take place on Saturday, 18 May from 8am to 8pm, or on Saturday, 25 May from 8am to 8pm.
The municipality stated that due to the complexity of the infrastructure work, supply will be interrupted and restoration may be delayed by a few hours.
‘Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all upgrades within the 8am to 8pm communicated time. The maintenance work ensures a reliable electricity supply for residents in the areas,’ the City of Cape Town said.

The City of Cape Town stated that electricity could be restored at any time and that customers should treat all electrical installations as live for the duration of the outage.
‘Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on,’ the City of Cape Town said.
In addition, the City of Cape Town has announced that its water and sanitation directorate teams will perform maintenance work such as pipe and valve installation, repairs, and replacement.
The water disruption will affect the following areas:
Parts of Hout Bay (Lower Baviaanskloof and surrounding areas)
According to the City of Cape Town, the newly installed high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline will be connected to the existing water supply network along Baviaanskloof Road on Tuesday, 7 May, from 8am to 5pm.

‘This will ensure the completion and optimal operation of the newly installed pipelines along Baviaanskloof Road. The water supply will be shut off during this period to enable the work to be done safely. Residents need to please store sufficient water for domestic use,’ the municipality said.
Haasendal, Jacarandas, Jagtershof, and Zevenhof: The 450mm-diameter water supply pipeline in the Haasendal, Jacarandas, and Jagtershof areas will also be upgraded. This entails replacing a T-piece and installing a control valve to mitigate the effects of future water supply disruptions in these areas.
The metro municipality stated that this will cause a disruption in the water supply to these areas beginning at 8pm on Tuesday, 7 May, and lasting until 8pm on Wednesday, 8 May. Water tankers will be made available where needed.
