It said that loadshedding will continue to be suspended until next week Friday at 4pm.
Eskom also reported an increase in the country’s generation capacity as Kusile’s Unit 5 successfully synchronised to the grid for the first time on Sunday. This unit adds an extra 800 megawatts to the national power system.

According to Daphne Mokoena, a spokesperson for Eskom, this marks a notable milestone in the power utility’s strategy to eliminate loadshedding.
She said during the testing and optimisation phase over the next six months, Unit 5 will intermittently provide electricity before transitioning into commercial operation and officially augmenting the existing Eskom fleet’s capacity.
